Electrolysis is incredibly versatile and is safe for almost all areas of the face and body. Common treatment areas include the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, jawline, cheeks, underarms, chest, abdomen, back, groin, and bikini line. The only exceptions are the inside of the nostrils and the ear canal.
Yes. Laser often leaves behind fine, light, or stubborn hair that it cannot target. Because electrolysis treats each follicle individually and doesn't rely on hair pigment, it is the perfect solution for permanently clearing any hair that laser leaves behind.
Yes. At EM Electrolysis, we require a brief initial consultation for all new clients. This dedicated time allows us to properly assess your skin, review your previous hair removal history, and design a customized treatment plan tailored specifically to your goals.
Because electrolysis is a highly individualized process, our pricing is structured by the length of the session rather than the size of the treatment area. We offer appointments in precise increments—such as 15, 30, or 60 minutes—allowing us to maximize our time together and focus exactly on what your skin needs.
Hydration is key! Drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment helps the micro-current travel more effectively through the follicle. You will also need to let the hair grow out just enough for us to grasp it with tweezers (usually about 1/8 of an inch, or 2 to 3 days of growth). Please avoid heavy sun exposure and retinol products on the treatment area for at least 48 hours beforehand.
Hair grows in differing cycles and is not all visible on the surface of the skin at the same time. Following an active growing period, most hair follicles go into a dormant stage. Because electrolysis can only treat visible, actively growing hair, a series of consistent treatments is required to catch every follicle as it cycles into its active growth phase.
After a session, it is normal to experience slight redness and mild swelling. In most individuals, this will disappear in half an hour to several hours. To ensure the skin heals beautifully, we recommend keeping the area clean, avoiding direct sun exposure, skipping heavy workouts that cause excessive sweating, and avoiding makeup on the treated area for the first 24 hours.
Because electrolysis destroys the hair root, the slight redness or mild swelling mentioned above is a completely normal, temporary reaction. We follow strict sterilization and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe, clean environment for every single treatment, minimizing any risk of irritation.
There is zero true downtime required. While it is completely normal to experience slight, temporary redness or mild swelling immediately following your treatment, you can confidently return to your normal daily activities right away. Many clients seamlessly schedule their sessions during a lunch break or between daily errands.
